Q- What do you think about touring?
TT- I'm so excited. I'm just so stoked to hit the road with Mitch and Drew and not have the pressure of the competition. They're both great writers, both great musicians. We're going to help each other out. I'm so excited to do music and not have to stand in front of the judges anymore! (laughing)
Q- What is a song you sing just for your own pleasure when you're not performing for anyone?
TT- That would be a song called "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman and it is the most raw, intimate beautiful song that I've ever heard. I would love to do a cover of that song but I don't think I ever could. If I wrote that song and someone tried to cover it I'd be like "no no!" And Tracy Chapman I'm just a huge fan of. She's a genius. If there's one song I wish I could've wrote it would be that one.
Q- What's the first thing you're going to buy?
TT- That I'm going to buy? I'm going to buy a big block of cheddar cheese. I have not been allowed to eat cheese for like three months.
Q- Why is that?
TT- It makes your pores congested.
Q- What was the best moment of the competition for you - besides winning, of course?
TT- I think the best moment for me was when I played Sarah Slean song ("Sweet Ones") because it was a big turning point for me in terms of showing the piano can be a huge performance instrument. It's not just a ballad instrument, it's not just something you need to sit and be serious at. It can be a lot of fun and I was glad I was able to do something that felt like home for me and really showy and a lot of fun.
