Troy Scott- So I have met (Canadian Idol runner-up) Rex before, but we're meeting for the first time, Melissa.
Melissa O'Neil- Yes we are.
Troy- So how are you liking Winnipeg so far?
MO- You know what? I was super excited for Winnipeg because it was my last stop on my promo tour. And it was the best stop. It was the most welcoming and I'm pretty excited to be back.
Troy- That's what we're all about.
Troy- So how's the tour going? This isn't your first stop, is it?
MO- This is our fourth stop.
Troy- Your fourth stop. Where were you before?
MO- Sudbury…
Troy- How was Sudbury?
MO- You gotta give Sudbury credit. They kept us in their town for a second show so I totally give them props and I'm really impressed with them. The second audience was amazing. They were so hyped up and they were up on their feet for the last four songs of our sets. It was amazing. So bring it on, Winnipeg!
Troy- Bring it on. We've got to fill Sudbury's shoes. They're not as smelly, I don't think.
Troy- What do you do before a show? You've got the big show coming up tonight. Do you have any rituals yet?
MO- Not really.
Troy- Melissa, you said a really cool thing, that when I read it I said, "OK, this girl gets it." You said you were terrified if you… actually it said you'd shatter yourself if you fell into the same direction/trap as the…slim, skin-flashing tween queens. Is there that much pressure in the business to become that?
MO- Um, there's not the pressure. See, it's different, I'm totally candid and I get in trouble for it very often.
Troy- That's good. You should be candid.
MO- Yeah, the thing is they don't tell you that way but they just say, "We want you to be in shape for the tour, [laughing] so you have a good cardiovascular system," and you're just like, "What are you saying, for real?"
Troy- "I'm going to have a heart attack at 17. Right, that'll be happening."
